FNS 2024 U16 HEACH COACH ANNOUNCEMENT

Football Nova Scotia would like to announce that Scott Borden Jr. is the head coach for the provincial under-16 team.

The Halifax, Nova Scotia native will lead the under-16 squad at the 2024 Football Canada Eastern Challenge.

With a strong foundation in the sport, Borden Jr. comes to this position with tremendous experience. He is a coach with the Atlantic University Sports (AUS) Mount Allison Mounties.

Previous to the Mounties, Borden Jr. was quality control and quarterback coach with Saint Mary’s Huskies for three seasons (2019-2022).

Borden has previous provincial coaching experience, having been a coach on different teams for the past six seasons. Borden Jr.’s work on these teams has had an impact as it led to further development of the sport in Nova Scotia.

As a player, Borden Jr. was a quarterback for the University of Manitoba Bisons and the Huskies at the USPORTS level. Previously, he suited up for the Westshore Rebels of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) and his high school team, the Halifax West Warriors.

Borden Jr. is a coach who strives to bring out the best in players while fostering a positive environment for athletes. Overall, he hopes to continue this in his new role.

“It's an incredible privilege and honor to be named the head coach of the provincial under-16 football squad,” Borden Jr. said.  “I'm thrilled to lead this exceptional group of young athletes and work tirelessly to elevate their skills and passion for the game. Together, we're poised for an exciting journey towards success on and off the field."
