Borden JR to lead provincial U14 Academy

Football Nova Scotia is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Borden Jr as the head coach of the Provincial U14 Academy.

A Halifax native, Borden brings nearly a decade of coaching and player‑development experience across multiple levels in the province. A former USPORTS quarterback, he currently coaches at the university level and has worked extensively with quarterbacks and skill‑position athletes. His coaching philosophy emphasizes strong fundamentals, discipline, and football IQ.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the U14 athletes as they take their first step into high‑level football,” Borden says. “This is such an important stage in their development, where learning proper technique, effort, and attitude matters just as much as learning the game itself.”

“My goal is to help them grow as players, people, and teammates while giving them a positive experience.”

In 2026, Borden will also serve as the head coach of the provincial Under‑18 team. He previously led the Under‑16 provincial program to bronze medals at the 2024 and 2025 Football Canada Eastern Challenge, hosted at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish.

As an athlete, Borden competed at the USPORTS level with the University of Manitoba Bisons and the Saint Mary’s Huskies. He also played in the Canadian Junior Football League with the Westshore Rebels and began his football journey at the high school level with the Halifax West Warriors.

Borden is widely recognized for his commitment to developing athletes both on and off the field, fostering competitive environments focused on elite technique, effort, and teamwork. His passion for mentoring young players continues to strengthen provincial programs and prepare athletes for the next stages of their football careers.
